Alaskans in Pink Photo Exhibit : Now seeking a permanent home!

This exhibit honors 12 people making a difference on the breast cancer scene with artistic portraiture by our best photographers and has traveled around the state since May, 2003. We are now seeking someone - a sponsor- to adopt it - call for details: 907-677-7970

Gwen's Story: Crazy Like Me

Our WIP (work in progress) about a young Alaskan girl who was the victim of child abuse by her mentally ill mother in 1980 was invited to New York 's Independent Film Project and Market last September. Co-producers Mary Katzke and Deb Schildt traded in their down jackets and sorrels for suits and heels, and lived to tell about it! Meetings with HBO, PBS, 7 th Art Releasing, and others yielded blisters on all four feet. Lots of interest in this film- now we're back in the field shooting the dramatic conclusion.

Beat the Odds: Knowing the Early Warning Signs of Heart Disease Can Save Your Life

Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women? And that heart disease takes more women's lives each year than all forms of cancer combined? We didn't either, but thanks to working with Providence Alaska 's Women's Heart Advantage Program, we now have a great short DVD for women to learn about the early warning signs of heart disease. Coming soon to a mailbox near you!

And a special thanks to the 20+ volunteers who showed up to help with our last assembly in November- we packed 350 kits in record time- thanks to you.

On our New Year's wish list:

SPACE - would love to have a corporation donate about 1000 square feet of space for us to keep all our supplies and to allow us to assemble our kits on a regular basis- as it is we have to line up space each time we need to assemble more than a dozen kits at a time. Help us by spreading the word- we are nonprofit 501©3 and will be a tax deduction.

Coming Up: Bare Bones Film Festival in Muskogee , Oklahoma

Director Mary Katzke's dramatic film, Pen Pals, will be featured in April at this film festival- Congratulations!

OUR DREAMS - we have proposals pending for:

  • Gwen's Story: Crazy Like Me
  • 3 Part DVD Set on Proactive Survivors of Breast Cancer
  • Power:The Struggle for Oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
  • More at Four- post production

And of course, we continue to search for just the right corporate sponsor so we can provide thousands and thousands of our needed breast cancer support products across the country. Just in case you happen to know that special company.or special individual.

In the interim, we keep packing and shipping, editing and duplicating, writing our proposals and traveling when we can.
