Greetings and Happy NEW YEAR from Between Us!
(Between Us is a survivor to survivor based project which provides first aid kits for the hearts and souls of women in crisis with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Our kits include our award-winning video, Between Us, as well as Alaska-based bath salts, candles, a custom journal, prepaid phone card, address carrier, information booklet, pen and book marker) just in case you didn't know, and please visit our website at www.betweenus.org to read more about us.
2001 has been another year of growth for us, and we hope for you as well...
***NEWSFLASH: Funding to begin preproduction on the partner film for breast cancer patients' support systems, "WHAT TO SAY, WHAT TO DO" was granted to Affinityfilms in Oct. 2001 by the Alaska Run for Women. This grant will allow us to start pre-interviews and scheduling for 2002 for the film we've been asked for since the beginning of our project-the film that can be handed to families, friends, partners, children and husbands who want to be there for her but may be unsure of how to proceed. Content will be formed by survivors, counselors, support system representatives chosen by survivors, and results of our extensive survey. For all of you currently using Between Us in your treatment protocol, you will be given a 50% discount on your first order of our new film! So save those invoices.
New item in kit: Now our kits come with a lovely laminated bookmark which thanks our sponsors and is useful for keeping place in those books during research! Thanks to Kim Sikora at Snowbird Designs for her design and duplication for us.
*CONGRATULATIONS TO NEW PROVIDERS OF the BETWEEN US video and or kits:*

*UPDATES*
Mary Katzke, founder and director of the Between Us Project, traveled in Nov. to Long Island, New York to be the key note speaker at the Maurer Foundation Conference on Breast Health. Mary spoke on her "Purpose as a Survivor" and showed clips from Between Us as well as from her new work, Precious Cargo, about her journey toward motherhood after chemotherapy-induced menopause with the help of a surrogate mother.
